Take two enterprising, bored souls, give them a fight scenario and the arena in which to implement it, and enough free time, and bam! Instant entertainment. Two souls engaged in an epic battle to the finish with their strangely elemental animal companions. A champion-strength trainer and a laid-back but motivated beginner. Imagine the spectacle!

So it's much more fun when a very large and colorful bird - with four wings! - comes half-flying, half-drifting down into the middle of your crazy pokémon training, right boys?]

Who's the bozo that thought calling it half-monster was a good idea? I like half-bird a lot better. Or half-fire bird. That makes it sound as cool as it is, not like it's a bad thing.

It's the truth. Birds like this are monsters. [She doesn't say "monster" with the derogatory inflection one might expect. Monsters are as common to her world as, oh, let's say strange purple rats are to his. Some are more volatile than others.]

Those are birds. What I...my monster half [Why is this what she's talking about right now? Can't it ever be easy with new people?] is a bird-type monster.

Those are weird normal animal birds. Those are birds, my Murkrow's a bird, a Pidgeot is a bird, a Noctowl is a bird, Moltres is a bird, [Ho-oh is a bird,] and it doesn't matter how big or strong they are. They're not monsters. Monsters makes them sound like some scary horrible thing.

[...Pointing back at those birds.] We don't have birds like those. We have Pidgey and Spearow. They aren't all birds or animals, though. They're also stuff like magnets, plants, ghosts, rocks...

[Plants and rocks, okay. She knows plant and rock-ish monsters for sure. Some other time they can cover "magnets."

Because as much as she hates when this happens, the word 'ghosts' has her looking over her shoulder almost instantly.]

Only ours are here. [He looks over at Sneasel, then back at Raven.] Every Pokémon trainer here has three of their Pokémon. Other than that, there are four that were hatched from eggs and given to people here.

[It's obvious the thing understands human speech. They were having a fight and everything. Raven stops and looks at it, before sort of crouching down. Not the best thing to do in this getup but.]
