Within the space of a few minutes, Buffy went from being that non-customer who brought snacks to one of the most indecisive people Raven had ever met. Making things work out well for others wasn't her strong point, either.
"Well I'll finish it and you can come get it whenever you want."
Jack wasn't the only one she wanted to keep in the dark. Sokka was one of her best friends; she didn't want him to learn second-hand of her eventual plans.
"If there's anything I can do in return o-or any...negotiable price? I'm okay with that. I'm price-friendly. Everything has a price, somewhere along the line."
"...You're the boss, boss. But the offer stands. If you ever need a hand or maybe a lunch delivery? I'm your gal."
Buffy could be like Sokka, sometimes. She liked the equanimity found in an exchange. Though she wouldn't press the matter beyond making her intentions clear.
"You spend a lot of time talking to him." That was her only observation of their situation but they seemed friendly enough. She thought Sokka had a different girl, anyway. Her mind seized on a possibility for Buffy's reasoning anyway and she couldn't stop herself from asking about it. "Is it because of the Water Tribe?"
"Sokka is..." she hesitated, having never really put these things to words with anyone but other close chums, "he's one of my best friends, here. Certainly, he's where my oldest friends and my bestest friends overlap, in the village."
Buffy crossed her arms -- ever so self-consciously. "Being around him makes me happy." Even when neither of us are. "As for the Water Tribe thing...? Hell, he could be from the Tribe of Teeth Grinders and Those Who Talk in Movie Theatres and I'd still love him.
"He's not that old." Even if that wasn't what Buffy meant. But it was good to know that about the Water Tribe. He said they were discriminated against, and she needed to know the same wasn't true around here.
Neither did she care who it was. She nodded to Buffy, setting her 'original' ring on a different counter.

Would that preclude her from telling Sokka? Probably. She wouldn't just bring it up out of nowhere.

She tilted her head. This was the appropriate time for Raven to name some sort of price, should she have one.

It was for...two people to be happy together, right?

"Lunch, huh?" She'd think about it.

She didn't add her usual short-tempered animosity. Loitering was on Buffy's list of minor crimes but that could be forgiven.
Because love was weird.
"Is it Sokka?"

She froze. That was -- ah. It didn't even occur to her that Raven might jump to that conclusion.
"Goodness, no. Not that Sokka's not a great guy. Any gal would be lucky to have him. But he's just not my...type."
Too good for me, really.

Platonically.
Besides, the boy looks good in blue."

"It'll still be finished by tomorrow."

And Buffy turned towards the door.

Raven didn't try to keep her there. Not her style.
