[It’s a rare day when Raven doesn’t report to the smithy first thing in the morning. Routine sits well with her; whether it’s the bird or the person who finds contentment in her jewellery-crafting nest is debatable. There is, however, a request she has spent (according to her) far too much time thinking on.

Masaomi asked for something to nullify electricity. In a flash of pragmatism, Raven wants to be able to make more than one of whatever this accessory will be. But first, she must actually achieve one. Harder than it sounds. Using what she knows, she hasn’t been able to produce anything that leaves someone less than shocked after exposure to lightning magic.

So. She did not go to work this morning; it’s the item shop instead, first, and then a trip to the big lake for a change of pace and some fishing. It reminds her of the fish-catching competitions at home, and out here in the forest alone, she can share a fond smile with nobody.

Until something comes crashing through the trees with a screech, grabbing some prey in its claws and landing not too far away to consume it. Not too long later, she’s sitting by the edge of the lake on a stone, book open.]

Does this belong to any of you? [Turn the book, show the bird.] ...He’s friendly.

[Friendly enough to sit only a few feet away, preening and occasionally squawking - and letting her touch him. No tender moments will be broadcast over the journal...intentionally. She’s a bird lover, though, even of large ones like this, and the way he looks reminds her of someone.

Might as well ask her other question while she’s gone to the trouble of using the book.]

I’m looking for materials that resist lightning. [Beat.] Not rubber. Things with magic.

Can they be made into a pendant or a ring?

[Usually that's up to her to figure out, but these are someone else's materials and messing with them might not be okay.]

Yeah, they can be made into anything from rings to pieces of armor, if you want. The exact properties change based on the structure and the person making the piece. It's ... rather complex like that.

But I can confirm they can make things resistant to lightning; an earring I made could even absorb the flow of lightning and electricity into magic energy.

Can I use some? ...You probably wouldn't get them back.

[[ooc: Sheena wears that earring too. She just had to find another that looked similar.]]

Sure. I have a few smaller pieces here. [Things that would be difficult to use for weaponry and bigger accessories.] Do you want me to bring it to the smithy?

Yeah. Any time is fine.

[It doesn't take him long; ever since Precis' death, he's had to get out of the house more, and he's slow to return back to his normal routine. He carries his messenger bag over to the smithy, poking his head in and looking around before for Raven before going all the way into the building.]

Rings or pendants, huh? You really like making accessories.

It's my job. [One might say she has a raven's predilection for shiny things, though.]

They're easier to wear and not heavy like armor.

[He starts opening up his bag as he walks over to Raven, talking as he goes.]

Accessories also tend to have a wider range of traits that can be changed. You can get creative with them.

[The pieces of material he pulls out are smaller than what he usually uses while working with Sokka, but no less potent for their size.] The clear white one is what we call crystal; it's fairly common and has a slight lightning trait. Then there's diamond and rainbow diamond, which have stronger lightning amplification and resistance traits.

[Getting creative with them is the entire plan. Raven spreads the crystal bits out in front of her, picking up the one he calls "diamond" with a thoughtful frown.

This is different from her typical frown or her irritated frown.]

Diamonds are different in my world. These resist lightning and make it stronger at the same time?

[He shakes his head, leaning in a little bit when she inspects one of the diamonds.]

The crystal by itself, if it was carried in hand as it is, enhances lightning magic a small amount. It depends on the type of accessory that's made, to be honest; the shape of the resulting accessory can change the base material's effects. Like what I mentioned with the earring.

So a pendant and a bracelet would be different...

I can keep these?

Yeah, you can keep those. If you need more, let me know; I make them periodically for my own use.

Make them. [Impressive. He can create crystals somehow.]

Yeah. What kind of accessory do you want?

[He blinks in surprise.] Oh-- uh. I wasn't asking for one... I'd just like to see something you make.

[He will probably get one anyway.]

[...Leon tilts his head a little at her response, curious. But then he shrugs.]
